Privacy Policy

ChatMet, at chatmet.chat, connects adults for live one-on-one conversations by video, voice or text. You can start without telling us your real name, phone number or email. A moderated chat service still needs some information to work, and this page explains exactly what that is.

Information we hold

Here is the full list, grouped by where it comes from. Some items only exist if you sign in or buy coins.

  • For every visitor: a random ID saved by your browser, what kind of device and browser you use, a rough location worked out from your IP, and the record that you confirmed you are over 18.
  • Match records: when a chat began and ended, which mode was used, and the identifiers of both participants. Typed messages pass through ChatMet servers on their way to the other person.
  • Safety records: reports you send, reports about you, blocks you set, the context attached to a report and notes moderators add while reviewing it.
  • Balance records: free matches received, Reward Center claims and coin balance.
  • If you choose to log in: how you logged in (an email address or a third-party account, for instance) plus any preferences you save.
  • If you buy coins: the pack, the date, and the receipt our payment partner sends back. Card numbers stay with that partner; ChatMet never sees or keeps the full number.
  • Emails you send to support and our replies.

What the person you chat with can see

Your match sees your nickname plus whatever you put in front of them: your camera in video mode, your voice in voice mode, your words in text mode. Your email, login method, location data and purchases stay hidden from them.

ChatMet has no record button. Capturing someone without permission breaks our community guidelines, yet nothing on our side can block someone filming their display with another device, so assume a stranger could keep whatever you show.

Why we use it

  • To run matches and deliver video, voice and text between two people.
  • To make blocks stick, look into reports and take down accounts that misbehave.
  • To keep track of free matches, Reward Center claims and coins.
  • To prevent fraud, spam and abuse, including automated accounts.
  • To fix bugs and see, in totals rather than individuals, which features people use.
  • So support can answer the emails you send.

Who else receives data

Personal information is never sold. A few contracted vendors handle parts of the job for us (servers, video relay, payments, analytics) and may only use the data for that job. Data is disclosed only under a valid legal order, or to keep a person safe from serious harm.

How long records stay

Session and match logs stick around only while they help us run and protect ChatMet. Safety files can live longer so repeat offenders get recognised. Receipts stay for as long as tax law insists. Anything no longer needed gets deleted or stripped of identifying details.

Cookies and similar storage

Browser storage is how ChatMet remembers that you are logged in, what settings you chose and how many free matches you have left. Analytics tools show us which pages get visited. Clearing site data in your browser wipes all of this and logs you out on that device.

Your choices and rights

Need your data exported, fixed or erased along with your account? Email [email protected] and tell us how you logged in so we can find you. Local privacy laws may give you extra rights on top of these, and we respect them.

Adults only

ChatMet is for over-18s only. When an account turns out to belong to someone younger, it is shut down and its data erased, apart from anything we are obliged to retain for safety.

Changes and contact

Significant edits to this policy come with a new date at the top of the page and, when it matters, a notice inside ChatMet. Questions go to [email protected].
