ChatMet safety comes down to three buttons and a few habits: next gets you out of a chat at once, block bars that member from your future pairings, and report hands the conversation to a real moderator. The habits are below.

  • Next in one tap
  • Block on every screen
  • Human review of reports
  • Adults only

Next, block and report: what each one does

Next leaves a chat immediately. Block makes sure you never get matched with that person again. Report flags the chat for a human moderator, who can warn or remove the other account. You can use all three without explaining yourself.

What to keep to yourself when you meet someone new

A friendly conversation does not need your personal data. Keep these back until you genuinely know someone, and probably even then.

  • Your full name, home address, school or workplace.
  • Phone number and social media handles, especially in a first chat.
  • Money matters of any kind: cards, bank logins, wallet addresses, gift-card codes.
  • Passwords and verification codes. ChatMet staff will never ask for them.
  • Photos or videos you would not want shared with strangers.

Scams to spot in the first five minutes

Most scams follow a script. Someone is unusually flattering very fast, then has an emergency, then needs money, a gift card or a "small favour". Others push you to move to another app immediately, or claim they can get you free coins. All of these deserve a report and a next.

If you ever feel pressured, end the chat. You do not owe a stranger anything, least of all money.

You never have to turn your camera on

Text mode uses neither camera nor microphone, and voice mode uses only the microphone. Your browser asks permission before video can use your camera, and you can say no. Plenty of people meet new people on ChatMet without ever showing their face.

Adults only, and how we enforce it

ChatMet admits nobody under 18. Our terms of service say so, and moderators act on reports about anyone who appears to be a minor. If you see someone who looks underage, report them straight away.

Our community guidelines set out the rest of the rules: no harassment, no nudity, no hate, no recording people without consent.

When a chat already went badly

Block and report the account first, then email [email protected] with the time and a short description. If you are in danger or someone threatens you, contact local emergency services. In the US, the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline is available by call or text if you are struggling.

Asked often

questions, answered.

Written the way people actually type them.

Is ChatMet safe?

ChatMet gives you instant next, block and report on every chat, and reports are reviewed by human moderators. Staying safe also depends on keeping personal details private, which we strongly recommend.

Can people on ChatMet see my location?

Other people only see what you show or tell them. Do not share your address or anything that identifies where you live.

What happens after I report someone?

A human moderator reviews the chat and can warn or remove the account. You do not need to do anything else, though blocking is a good idea too.

Do I have to use video?

No. Text and voice modes keep your camera off, and your browser always asks before video can turn on.

Can minors use ChatMet?

No. You must be 18 or older to use ChatMet, and anyone who looks younger should be reported.
